407+ applicants.

Jesus.

We weren't expecting that. Thank you all for taking the time. I know applying for jobs sucks :(

But out of 400+ applicants, only 5 made it through our initial screening.

Here's why:

we only care about what you've shipped

If you tell me you can write 100-player netcode, and another guy links me a successful Steam game where he already did it, I'm hiring the other guy. Every single time.

That's what really matters:

Delivery.

A lot of applicants asked for feedback. Here it is:

don't waste time with words

All you need to do is:

Show me your projects, game, Steam pages, and tell me what you did on them.

Then get out of the way and let the work speak for you.

Same applies to your portfolio website.

Remove all the words, UI bars saying you're "87% proficient" at C++, or how passionate you are.

Just link to your projects.

future jobs

If you applied and didn't get it, it doesn't mean you're bad.

It means someone else had better shipped projects.

We'll post on LinkedIn, Work With Indies, etc. when we're looking again.

That said, there's always an opening for someone exceptional.

If you've shipped something so good that I'd be an idiot to ignore you, email me.
